Busy time
So it has been awhile since I have posted on my blog. I always think I’ll make time weekly to write but somehow that doesn’t happen to often.
Well it’s been almost three years since I returned from deployment and I am totally out and done with the army so that’s a good thing for me and my family! I still make and run an ETSY store
https://www.etsy.com/shop/Attic22
which has been a little slower since Shanna got so busy with Illustrated Faith.
Shanna is so alive and thriving it’s a blessing for me to see her thrive and find her “people”. It is taxing on her sometimes but she is loving every minute of it.
She finished a huge project with Zondervon and I’m super excited to get it in my hands and see how all her hard work paid off
Check out her website to see what she is creating and where she is teaching
FRIENDSHIP
So this week I am teaching about friendship and I thought I would post it here on blog to hear what others think about the subject.
Introduce the lesson title on Friendship
What ingredients make a good friend??
Video about friendship
Personal example of friendship
HEALTHY FRIENDSHIPS
Healthy friendships
FEED THE NEED to be LOVED AND ACCEPTED.
Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work: if one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up! Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken (Ecclesiastes 4:9-12).
HOW DO THEY WORK
Ingredients of a friendship:
1. PARTNERSHIP
Two are better than one because they have a good return for their work
(Ecclesiastes 4:9).
2. ENCOURAGEMENT
If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up!
(Ecclesiastes 4:10).
3. COMFORT
Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone?
(Ecclesiastes 4:11).
4. LOYALTY
Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves
(Ecclesiastes 4:12).
TREKKERS KEY VERSE (WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO YOU
Colossians 3:2
Set your mind on things above,
not on earthly things.
How does it work with friendship?
John 15:13
13 Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.
Earthly way to look at friends
(Examples from life)
Earthly way to look for friends
– What can they do for me?
– Who will make me popular?
– Who has the nicest things toys bikes, house ect…
Heavenly way to look at friends
(Examples from life)
Looking at friends from a heavenly view not earthy view
– Who makes me laugh?
– What can I do for them?
– Who do I have things in common with?
– Who will help me grow stronger?
– Who will always lift me up
and never bring me down?
Thought for the week:
How HEALTHY are my HOMIES?

What kind of Amazing Church I work in
I am super excited after so many years of rocky work environment to have a great place to come to work each day! Not only do I love the people I work with and love the program I am working in but the rest of the Church is pretty awesome also!
This is the description of the Children’s ministry on our website.
If you want to check it out here is the Site ——–> http://www.redwoodcovenant.org/index.html
Our Elementary department consists of:
Trailblazers (kindergarten through third grade)
Trekkers (grades four and five)
Elementary aged kids are building a foundation for life. That’s why we think
it’s so important to emphasize two point with these kids:
1) God has a special plan for my life
and
2) The Bible is God’s special book for me.
In Trailblazers the kids learn Bible stories and we show them how God’s plan for people in the
Bible is the same as God’s plan for us. In Trekkers we go deeper because their brain development
allows them to think deeper thoughts and understand things like metaphors. So in Trekkers the kids
learn about the Bible. For example, they learn about the author of a book or a letter, who it was
written to, the culture and the geographic region. We do this to build a foundation that will help
through the coming years as a high school student.
Redwood Kids and Student Ministries Collaboration
Redwood Covenant is very unique. We are know for the collaboration we have between our children’s
and student ministries. Both ministries work hard at collaboratively building a foundation in the lives
of all our kids and students that will prepare them for life. We have carefully constructed a pathway
from birth through high school graduation that guides them through all levels of spiritual development.
Sunday Morning
Sunday morning is our main event. It’s the base of all we do. We do not run things like a regular church.
We write our own Bible-based curriculum, incorporate the five senses into all our learning experiences
and dip it all in a very thick layer of joy. You’ll often see crying kids in the hallways. They’re not crying
because they have to go to church. They’re crying because they have to leave Redwood Kids.
We may not be the biggest children’s ministry around, but we are nationally recognized as one of the best.
Special Events
Besides Sunday mornings, we offer several special events throughout the year. Starting in the fall we have
our Fall Fun Fest, Advent for Families, A Sven & Ole Christmas, Trekker Christmas, Father/Daughter Dance,
Camp Grundywaddle, Space Camp, Girl Talk, Olde Fashioned Picnic and Summer Splash. These special events
are designed to give you the opportunity to invite friends and family who normally would not go to a church.
Our goal is to serve the community and show them that we’re not the kind of church they may be thinking
we are. Most folks find us much more fun and “normal” than they ever expected. Information on all our
special events can be found on our Special Events page.
Been Creating some stuff
It seems that since I graduated and finally finished my college degree in January my mind has got busy thinking and creating unique items. Not only have I been able to have creative freedom at work creating fun things for the students I teach I have loved my shop time.
On top of that my Dad and I recently redid our garage and shop space so it is easy for us to work in there together.
I enjoy working with tree branches, fence boards, mason jars, and wine staves. He has been enjoying fixing up his 59 fleet side truck which we named the Beast.
Most recently I was able to make a really neat bench for Addison’s school in the garden they will soon be planting. So great to create and learn new things 🙂
